This week's colors at The Play Date Cafe are baby blue, orangcicle, and basil. My friend Kate just had a baby- Piper!
For some reason the card doesn't look as good in a pic, but oh well! I made the clothes come off a bit to look like they're blowing in the wind.
Welcome Piper!!

CAS-ual Fridays #41- Jest for the Pun of it!
This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to make a card with a play on words or a pun.
I chose to stamp a squirrel and use the sentiment "nuts about you"! Just to add to the whole nut/squirrel thing, I took the picture of the card in a tree where a ton of squirrel in our yard like to hang out.

Right at Home card class
Here are a couple cards we've made during the Right At Home monthly card class...
For this first card we used one big stamp with versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then we used Tim Holtz ink pads with applicators to apply the ink to the negative spaces.
For this second card, we used chalk ink with a stencil to create the damask pattern. Then we made these rolled roses and put some stickles on them at the end.
Very fun!

Mojo Monday #228
This is a somewhat loose interpretation of the sketch over at Mojo Monday. Once I got started the card took on a life of it's own! I was playing with a bunch of techniques which I'll show you below.
For the frame I covered with with sand colors paint dabbers, then sprayed it with walnut ink. Before it could dry I added clear crackle paint to the top. |
For the flower I used crocheted ribbon and ran a thread through the edge of it, pulled it tight, then tied the two ends together to form a flower. |
For the damask design on the paper, I used chalk ink with a stencil to add the pattern. Then sewed the edges of the card and distressed the edges. |
PDCC119- Black and White with a splash of pink
This week's color challenge at the Play Date Cafe is black, white, and pink!
So my original plan was NOT to put the inked up black edges on this card, but after stamping the black flower I smudged the edge of the card with blank ink from my finger. So- work with what you have right, I ran with it and inked up all the edges. I like it actually! I added a little stickle to the flower too just for fun.
CFC #40 - Ribbon
This week's theme over at CAS-ual Fridays is ribbon! I was going through old stuff last night that I haven't used and found these cute little flags.
I've also re-fallen in love with this paper, so all in all it ended up being a very October Afteroony card!

two flower cards
I recently just got a few stamp sets from The Craft's Meow and the second I received the package a literally ran upstairs to my craft room to use them! For this first card I colored the flower images with Copics, which I haven't done in quite awhile, I forgot how therapeutic it can be!
For this second card I used Tim Holtz stain to color in the flower and leaves, which had been embossed with clear embossing powder. The side strip was stamped with a couple images from Papertrey Ink's Mehndi Medallion set.

Twisted Sketches #93- Heart
This week's twist at Twisted Sketches is "heart"! Well, Valentine's Day is just around the corner so of course I made a Valentine's Day card!
I realized once I started making it that the scallops just so happen to fit the tops of two hearts perfectly, I love when little discoveries like that happen by mistake! Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

CFC #39- paper piecing
This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is paper piecing! I just recently got my first order of The Craft's Meow stamps so what a perfect challenge to break them in a little!
I'm totally smitten with this tandem bike stamp set, it's so adorable! For those of you in the northeast like I am, good luck with the snow today!

CFC38, Mojo Monday 226, and PDCC117- Skunk with flower
My original inspiration for this card was Casual Fridays and I had the movie Bambie in mind when I made it. The little skunk in that movie is so freakin' cute! I'm loving the colors of this week's Play Date Cafe so I made another card with the colors, and then used the layout from this week's Mojo Monday which I haven't played along with in FOREVER! I actually got this stamp set while at Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire event in Cincinnati over the summer for FREE- gotta love that!
Paper Smoothes Spark Challenge
This is my first Paper Smooches challenge! I bought my first set about a week ago for the pancake engagement card I made and I've seen my friend's Jess and Nicole play this one, so I figured I'll play too!
For the toaster oven and toast I first cut out the toaster and then used a razor knife to cut a slit into it to then slide the piece of toast in. The swirly is supposed to be like a cinnamon raisin swirl. I'm not used to doing card quite this simple so I'm still getting adjusted to it. I feel like I need to add a million more things but I resisted!

PDCC #117 and JUGS #122- Pregnancy card
I made this card for my friend Jess who found out she was pregnant during Thanksgiving weekend...making this card EXTREMELY late! But I guess better late than never right?! I used the sketch from Just Us Girls and the colors from Play Date Cafe to create this card. And...just in case you're wondering what this picture was taken on (which you probably weren't but I'm gonna tell you anyway) it's my new vanity for my bathroom from Restoration Hardware! I'm obsessed! I can't wait until it's actually installed!
