I made a card...and I liked it!

So you may have noticed I have been gone for a little while. Not gone for real, but very inattentive to my poor blog. The truth is, I had a crazy fun summer and I don't think I made more than two cards the whole summer! Had it not been the request of my co-workers to make a card for one of our SVPs who is leaving the company I work for, I'd still be MIA. So, begrudgingly, I slowly made my way into the craft room, dusted off my desk and got to work.

Little did I know, I'd really enjoy making this card and I think, I dare say, I might be back in the game. Maybe, we'll see! Only time will tell. But none the less, here is my creation.

Better Late than Never

Here are a few cards I've made over the past couple of months that I took pictures of but never posted. There are more that I made and didn't take pictures of, but those are already given out to people. Nothing I can do about that now!

Baby Card Inspired by a Onesie!

Sorry blog, I know I've completely ignored you for way to long! This summer has been ridiculously busy!

My friend Jess just had a baby boy named Zachary! I found this cute little onesie and it inspired me to create a matching card to go with it.

I bought this striped tape roll awhile ago and I've just been waiting for the right chance to use it. I love it. I want to wrap my house with it.

Clean and simple birthday cards

I admittedly was in a hurry when I made these two card so I had to go the clean and simple route! I was on my way out the door to spend the day with my Mom and step-dad and it hit me- oh crap, it's their birthdays! Better make a card real quick! I know, I'm a terrible daughter. Hey, at least they were on time unlike the rest of my cards lately...

Mother's Day- Three ways

I've been really into the office supply type embellishments so for Mother's Day, I used them three different ways with the same layout. Here we go...

I used my date stamp from Project Life, the tab die is from Die-namics, and the rolodex index cards- I honestly can't remember who makes those but I love them. The clip is from Tim Holtz, but in reality they were a little silly because I couldn't fit the cards in the enveloped so I had to stick them in without sealing it. All the stamps are from Papertrey Ink

Twisted Sketches #104- Animal

This week's twist at Twisted Sketches is "animal". I was going through some older craft stuff and found a sheet of large stickers with this acorn one and I love the Papertrey Ink Forest Friends so I combined the two to make this little number...

Bathroom

So a few months ago, my dog decided to be a jerk and he ripped up (shredded is actually more accurate) our entire bathroom floor. And let me tell you, our bathroom was already in rough shape so that just put it over the edge! Here are some before pics:
who makes a counter top like this?!

this is our floor all ripped up from our dog!

And last but certainly not least, here was our peeling ceiling!

Now here are some afters:
New floor!

Ceiling not peeling because we actually have a fan now!

And last but certainly not least, new everything else...and the dog checking out the new floor- STAY AWAY!

Mason jar vases

My friend Nicole's birthday was this past weekend and she loves Ball jars (let's be honest, I'm pretty obsessed myself!). Her house is decorated in fun bright colors so I chose colors that would go along with her home decor. I took Ball jars and then spray painted them with Rustoleum in two coats. I chose Rustoleum because it says it works for plastic so I figured why not glass too right?! Also, they had the greatest selection of colors to choose from!
Here are the jars by themselves drying (dried in about 3 hours)

In the meantime I made a little box to put them in, including this label and some coordinating fabric inside the box

Finally, in the box they went with some Lily of the Valleys from our yard. We have hundreds of them!

But they wouldn't quite stay put so I added some moss around them for support, and I think it add a little extra something!

Twisted Sketches #101- Happy 2nd Anniversary Twisted Sisters!

This week's sketch over at Twisted Sketches has the twist "two" for the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the site! Happy Anniversary twisted sisters, and especially to Anam! I made this card for my friend's child's 2nd birthday. His name is Rylan and he's adorable- a heart breaker already! So cute! I used a circle stamp to add some emphasis to the 2 on the count down, and used glossy accents and copics on the shuttle. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

CFC #47 Again!

So I had to make another Easter card this morning and I am obsessed with grey and yellow right now! If you follow me on Pinterest, you know just how obsessed I am! This is for CAS-ual Fridays what you'd find in an Easter basket challenge.

Just Us Girls #131- Sketch Challenge

This week's challenge at Just Us Girls is to use their sketch to create a card. I haven't played JUGS in awhile and I miss it! The design team ladies are so inspirational and wonderful all around! Here's my card:

I'm in love with this gnome sticker! I think it's so adorable! To frame it out I used a chipboard that was colored with Tim Holtz stain and then popped up with 3D squares. What is it about gnomes that just suck you in?! Or is it just me! Anyway, happy Easter or Passover everyone!

Wedding Card

For this card, I started with a natural fibery paper and then added the vellum sheet with black velvety dots at the bottom. Going over that is a pleated ribbon with black rhinestones running across it and two pearl covered pins to top it off. I have about 5 million weddings to go to this summer so I need to get cranking on them now before my time slips away!

Twisted Sketches #100 - Grow

This week's twisted over at Twisted Sketches is "grow". Since it's spring, I immediately thought of flowers growing and blooming and my new Rosie Posie set from Papertrey Ink was the perfect inspiration!

The sentiment along the right hand side says "bloom where you're planted" which also makes me think of growing! I just got this fun new paper and twine which I'm in love with. The mustard yellow is my new favorite color I think!

CFC #47 Something you'd find in your Easter basket!

This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was to make a card featuring something you'd find in your Easter basket. I just love Papertrey Ink's jar collection and they have the cutest Easter themed stamps in the spring set!
Happy Easter and have a great weekend everyone!

CFC #46 Name that Tune

This week's CAS-ual Fridays  challenge was to make a card with a song title or lyrics, I chose "You are my sunshine" and here it is!

I used a paint dabber to cover an oval chip board and then added this embellishment flag and tied on some twine. I've been really in to chevron stripes lately and I love this pink pattern with the blue and brown together! Thanks for visiting!

CFC #45 The Bold and The Beautiful!

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to use pastels with black. So I don't often think of black and pastels together, but I have to say that it's quite striking! I love it! I started with a butterfly cut out of grunge paper and then put crackle paint on it then aged photo ink and rhinestones. Then I used embossing powder to add the "Merci" and lastly added the scalloped border. Oh wait, and at the last minute I added light blue glimmer mist...

It's a beautiful day in New England so it's time to enjoy the perfect weather outside! Enjoy your weekend!

Twisted Sketches #98 "green"

This week's sketch over at Twisted Sketches had the twist "green". I actually had a lot of fun with this layout...once I got the measurements correct! Math is not my strength!

After seeing the pic I'm thinking "happy birthday to you" is a bit light, but fortunately it looks better in person for the lovely Lora who received this card a few months back when I made it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Twisted Sketches- Leap

This week's twist at Twisted Sketches is "leap" for leap year! At first I was thinking- I'll use a frog, but then I decided that was too obvious so I went in a different direction. Leap year occures every 4 years, so I did a 4th birthday card and the zip pull strip will "leap" off the card when you pull it open!

Under the zip pull it says "sending you a little something special!"

Twisted Sketches #98- Woman

This twist "woman" was a little tough for me at first I must admit, but I ended up deciding to make a card for a woman in my life- my mom!
I know mother's day is a long ways away still so I hope I remember that I made this card! Anyway, have a great weekend!

The Play Date Cafe- #120

This week's colors at The Play Date Cafe are baby blue, orangcicle, and basil. My friend Kate just had a baby- Piper!

For some reason the card doesn't look as good in a pic, but oh well! I made the clothes come off a bit to look like they're blowing in the wind.
Welcome Piper!!

CAS-ual Fridays #41- Jest for the Pun of it!

This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to make a card with a play on words or a pun.

I chose to stamp a squirrel and use the sentiment "nuts about you"! Just to add to the whole nut/squirrel thing, I took the picture of the card in a tree where a ton of squirrel in our yard like to hang out.
