Mother's day card for a friend

I have a friend at work who asked me to make a Mother's Day card for her. She wanted it to be browns and tans with a pop of color. She also said that she wanted to incorporate something crocheted because her grandma, who the card is for, likes to crochet. So...here's what I created! I hope she likes it!

Feel Better with flowers

I had a lot of fun making this card! I just took a copics class today at Right At Home Scrapbooking and of course wanted to experiment with my new techniques when I got home! I still haven't learned skin and hair yet- that's in a couple weeks- so hopefully my skills with that will improve soon. I added some stickles to her shoes, waistband, hair clip, and the flowers.

PTI Make is Monday #12- Flowers and Smiles

This week's Papertrey Ink Make it Monday on Nichole Heady's blog incorporates line frames onto the card. I've never tried this before but always wanted to know how it was done! It's actually not too hard aside from knowing how to use a ruler...and not making your pencil marks too dark (I know from doing it!). I used a pen I had lying around but after doing this I think I'm going to have to invest in the one Nichole uses- American Crafts Precision Pen I believe- because mine kept running low in ink if I went too fast! Thanks for showing us this technique Nichole!

hot air balloons!

So I don't know about you guys, but I'm in love the the hot air balloon trend going on right now! I just got this stamp set from PTI and I can't wait to use it a thousand more times! For this card I did paper piecing with polka dot printed paper and went over the design with Copics. For the clouds I used a white pigment ink to give a subtle look. I finished them off with buttons and then distressed the edges of the paper. I noticed today that the PTI cardstock is the perfect paper to distress because there are so many fibers in the paper compared to other paper! Thanks for looking!

Clean and Simple #137

I used the Clean and Simple #137 layout for this card. I told you- more felt cards to come and here it is! I LOVE this die from PTI and I'm so excited I finally got it! I used green embossing powder for the leaves. All of the cardstock aside from the green is from PTI, the leaf stamp is from Paper Source and the wedding sentiment is a set from Joanns. Thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday Dana!

I made this card for my friend Dana who is super fun, bubbly and one of the sweetest people I know! Therefore, I felt like it was only fitting to make her a card that is sparkly and fun! I used Stickles for her name and the Alpha blocks stamps and die from PTI for the outline and squares of her name. I curled the letters slightly to give it a banner look. I used the PTI cupcake stamps and die along with glittery embossing powder to finish it off. Happy birthday Dana- in a couple weeks- I hope you have the sweetest day ever!

Happy Easter!

I had a lot of fun using my copics to color in these easter eggs! I used a PTI die for the pink border and PTI cardstock for the card and border. The stamp and buttons are from Joanns. Have a happy Easter everyone! If you're in the MA/RI area I know you enjoyed a beautiful spring day outside!

Get Sketchy #84

I made this card for the Get Sketchy weekly layout challenge. I just got a bunch of felt, paper and new dies/stamp sets from PTI and this was my first attempt at using the die with felt! I love it and I'm going to make a ton of felt cards now! I also added the pin embellishment through the heart to add an arrow through the heart look. Thanks for looking!

Welcome Conor!

My husband's cousin and his wife just had their second born-Conor- who is sooo cute! I made this little card to congratulate their family! I used the new PTI Postmarks stamp set to include his birthday and a few other new baby appropriate words and phrases! I can't wait to meet the little guy!

Get Sketchy #83- Happy Birthday Nicole!!!

I used this weeks Get Sketchy layout to make my friend Nicole's birthday card which is coming up next week. I think I tried to do way to much with it and it got a little out of hand! Especially with the pearl accents. Plus I felt all this pressure for it to be really good because she makes cards too and that just made it worse! But, none the less, here it is and thanks for looking! Sorry I ruined the "surprise" Nicole- haha!

Clean and Simple FTL 136

I made this card for the Clean and Simple #136 challenge for this week. I really tried to stick with "clean and simple" this time which was a little out of my comfort zone but I actually really liked the way it came out! Unfortunately the pink in the ribbon looks a bit washed out in the pics.
I used fancy pants paper for the printed strips and Papertrey stamps and die for the framed sentiment. I also sprayed the frame with Vanilla Breeze Tattered Angels mist to give it a shimmery look! Thanks for looking!

Mother's day quilted square card

I made this card for my mom for Mother's Day, although because I still have a month I'll probably make a few more between now and then and change my mind a hundred times of which one to give her- haha! I used Girls Paperie paper for the quilted looking center, stitched is on with pink thread, added a yellow tissue paper flower sprayed with a shimmery tattered angels mist, and added the pearl embellishment, flower border and sentiment. Both sentiments are Papertrey Ink stamps. I kinda wished I had embossed the paper after seeing the completed card, but now that will give me an excuse to make another one! Thanks for looking.

JUGS 80

I made this card for the Just Us Girls card challenge. This week the challenge was to create a card using the colors aqua, black, coral, and kraft.  Of course I immediately thought of the new fancy pants paper because they use this color combo a lot with their new paper! I just got a flower frog to display my pics on- and I must say I love it! Thanks for looking!

1000+ page views!

So I hit a mini milestone today, my blog has been viewed over 1000 times!!! My husband is under the impression that this is mostly thanks to my friends Jess and Nicole but I know that's not true! Just wanted to give a special shout out to everyone who's taken the time to check out my blog! And to celebrate I did a little page re-design tonight- hope you like! Keep the comments coming, they make my day!!!

JUGS Birthday Blog Hop- Happy birthday banner

So after the craft fair madness I told myself I'd give myself this week to give it a rest from the crafts for a little bit to recoup but...that didn't happen! I couldn't stay away for more than a day it appears! I made this one for a family member's birthday! The banner flags are fabric and then I sewed them on leaving the thread on each side to act as banner ties. The sentiments and presents are from PTI! I've been really into seeing all the banner cards and scrapbook pages so I'm glad I finally did one of my own! Enjoy!!

Craft Show Success!

The craft show went really well! Nicole and I were both really happy with what we were able to sell! I sold 26 cards and 2 tag sets and we sold about 50 cards total! We will definitely be doing more shows going forward, especially after all the really positive feedback we got from everyone!
Thanks to everyone for your support and if any of you reading this have any suggestions for good shows in the MA/RI area, please post!! Thanks again!

EIC #134- Retro Quilted Coasters

This project was made for the Etsy Inspired Challenge #134 http://etsyinspired.blogspot.com/2011/04/eic-134-think-fast-designs.html. I was particularly inspired by the Retro Cherry Pieced quilt by thinkfastdesigns: http://www.etsy.com/listing/67808922/retro-cherry-pieced-quilt. I'll be giving this creation to my friend Megan for our Crafts for Lyfe monthly craft swap. A group of us rotate on which friend we get to make a special craft for! I'm giving it to her tomorrow so hopefully she doesn't see this post before then! This was the first time I've ever made coasters and they really weren't that hard. Maybe there will be more of them in my future... Thanks for looking!

Clean and Simple 135 challenge

I made this card for this week's Clean and Simple #135 challenge http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com/2011/04/135.html. I just bought a bunch of really fun girly things this week and I've been eager to use them! If you haven't seen it yet, you have to check out the new Girls Paperie and Pink Paislee lines! Soo sweet! I used two pieces of pink paislee's ephemera for this card and added glossy accents and stickles to the nest, the embroidered ribbon is actually from Walmart, and I heat embossed the sentiment and then messy stitched it onto the card. I forgot to change out the bobbin before doing so, so the color of the thread looks a lot darker than it should because the bobbin is black! oops!

Vintage Looking Male Birthday card

Ok so you all probably know about my feelings when it comes to making a male card! It's tough! But I think I finally found a good balance of things to make it work- and luckily the person I made it for likes vintage things so that helped me with the direction! This card is for Erik's stepdad Philip whose birthday is on Sunday (he doesn't look at this blog so don't worry!). I hope he likes it but the reality is, even if he doesn't I'll never know! Haha! Either way, I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!

PTI Make It Monday #9 & JUGS78

So I made this card for the Make It Monday #9 challenge by Papertrey Ink on Nichole Heady's blog (which I am obessed with by the way!). I've been following this challenge for awhile but this is my first time actually attempting it! This week you had to use some heat embossing along with a PTI product. If you've been following my blog at all you know that I can't get enough of these friendship jar stamps so I figured why stop now, let's do another one! I embossed the jar, filler, label, lid, and rim accent along with the 10 cents to the side. It was a little tough capturing it with my camera but I think you get the idea here! I need a new camera! I've really been looking forward to spring and starting the garden so this was a nice little inspirational project for me! Thanks for looking!
Updated- I noticed that this layout is also perfect for the Just Us Girls Challenges #78 which I've never seen before but came across it tonight! Add it to the list of challenges I will love doing every week!
